*A conversation between Kaitlyn C. and Izzy Ngov a teen influencer/entertainer/Youtuber.*
Kaitlyn: Hello! How are you?
Izzy: Good. How are you?
Kaitlyn: I’m well. Can you introduce yourself please?
Izzy: My name is Isabella but my friends and people who know me online call me Izzy! I’m a social media influencer/entertainer/YouTuber.
Kaitlyn: That’s very cool!
Question 1: Do you find it hard to balance doing all those things as well as keeping up with school?
Izzy: Definitely! I used to post everyday but balancing my social media presence along with theatre, choir, sports, student government, and other clubs left me modifying my schedule to posting 3-4 times a week on Instagram and 2-3 times a month on YouTube.
Kaitlyn: That must be tough!
Question 2: Can you tell us a little bit about how you started singing and acting along with your other activities?
Izzy: I’ve always enjoyed singing. I guess you could say I started around 3rd-4th grade. I started acting in 6th grade when I went out for the school play. I guess you could say both really influence what I post now. The other activities I do like track and Yag I do because I love the atmosphere!
Kaitlyn: That’s awesome!
Question 3: What draws you closer to music and kept you in choir all these years?
Izzy: I find music as an outlet. I just like it. Not much to it 😂
Question 4: What singers do you think inspire you the most?
Izzy: My favorite artist at the moment are Khalid and Ariana Grande. I think they are very empowering in different ways.
Question 5: What inspires you to continue creating video content?
Izzy: I always loved making people laugh. When I was younger, I was in awe when people laugh because I noticed it brought people joy. So, I strive to make others laugh and spread happiness. It’s also really fun just being myself on camera and getting reactions from the people who watch my videos! I also find entertainment really important because of the influence it has on people!
Kaitlyn: That’s awesome!
Question 6: how do you find inspiration for your videos? Is there any one creator you look to for inspiration?
Izzy: I find inspiration in my day to day life. I think just being a high school student and dealing with the levels of stress in different relationships whether it be platonic, romantic, or just regular relationships are something a lot of people can relate to. It’s important to me that people don’t feel alone and feel like they belong. If I ever feel unmotivated, I always look toward Jkfilms, David So, Fruitypoppin, WongFuProductions, TimothyDeLaGhetto and many more other Asian influencers. They inspire me the most due to their strive to success even though American media suppresses Asian creators.
Kaitlyn: Very interesting.
Question 7: Can you give us the “inside scoop” on what making a video entail? (What goes on backstage, in a sense.)
Izzy: I’m very simple when it comes to filming. Usually I get a topic like “childhood stories” or “baking ____” and set up the camera. Whenever the camera is rolling, I just let everything flow out. The only videos that have scripts are hardcore skits that I do. Which I’ve only done one, but one is coming soon. I’ll give you the inside scoop on that. Basically I’ll film it when I’m ready but it’s about a very crazy boy, it has a whole script and everything... it’s very exciting (production wise) and I think it’s very interesting (story wise). Other than that I just film and say whatever I want.
Question 8: Who in your life has been your biggest “cheerleader” when it comes to making videos?
Izzy: My biggest cheerleader when it comes to making videos would have to be my brother. He’s been very supportive since the beginning and believes in my potential 100%. He’s never once doubted my potential which means a lot. Although my mom can come in second place because she now gets very excited when I hit milestones for my account, along with my dad. Also shoutout to my two best friends Teddy and Caelinn who support everything I’ve done in videos and who have been forced into MANY videos. And who have been there through all the hate! ❤️❤️
Kaitlyn: It’s awesome that you have so much support from friends and family!
Izzy: It’s great!
Question 9: Do you have any career goals in the YouTube industry?
Izzy: I hope to become a full time Youtuber in the future. I also hope to be more involved in video production!
Question 10: Can you share the best advice you were given relating to being an influencer that people following your footsteps should hear?
Izzy: Uhhh... I was never really told anything relating to becoming an influencer. Probably because I’m from a small town and no one around where I live does this. Although I will say please be mindful of what you say online because even though your demographic may not be in the younger department. Kids will still find a way to your page so don’t post anything negative or shine light on things that shouldn’t be done. For example, underage drinking and smoking should not be something you post online for the sake of a younger audience. Also be mindful of your opinions before posting something online. It’s important to advocate for what you believe in but it’s also rude and disrespectful to bash someone for their beliefs.
Kaitlyn: That’s really great advice!
Last Question: Is there anything you would like to add before we conclude the interview?
Izzy: No! But thank you so much for interviewing me!
Kaitlyn: Thank you! Have a wonderful rest of your day and thank you for your time!
