Ellie: Teen Baker
Hi, My name is Ellie. I’m 15 years old turning 16 in a couple months. Some hobbies of mine are singing, dancing, modeling, playing sports, watching tv, chilling with my friends and of course baking! A new passion of mine is Instagram so I’ve just recently become an influencer and I‘ve partnered up with my first company.
Question: Nice to meet you! Talk to us about getting into baking? How did you really get a passion for it? What is so fun and interesting about it for you?
Ellie: I’ve always been into food but I mostly got into baking after developing an autoimmune disease. I couldn’t eat what everybody else was eating so I decided to try and make my own healthy version of things that in my opinion tasted just as good. I like trying out new recipes and looking at ways I can improve them. Baking is also therapeutic for me and I feel that I can just relax when doing it.
Question: Has it been difficult in social situations having an autoimmune disease? How have you overcome it?
Ellie: Yes, there have been some times where it’s been difficult to have an autoimmune disease in social situations. For example my stomach would constantly be hurting but nobody would understand and I would make it seem like nothing was wrong when I was really in lots of pain. I’m currently in remission though so I don’t have to worry about that as much anymore :)
Question: Definitely! And it’s great you are in remission! Could you speak to us about working as an influencer with your first company. What is the company? What’s interesting and compelled you to work with them?
Ellie: The first company I’m working with as an influencer is Keto Krate. Keto Krate is a monthly subscription box that has a bunch of keto snacks in it (The Keto diet is a low carb, high fat diet.) They contacted me and I was very interested in working with them since my dad follows the Keto diet. Another company just messaged me today as well. They’re a swimsuit brand and are interested in a partnership with me so I do collaborate with companies that are non food related too.
Question: Who are your biggest inspirations? & what is so inspiring about them?
Ellie: One of my biggest inspirations is Danielle Walker because she overcame an autoimmune disease too. She follows a strict diet and never lets her disease get the best of her!
Question: Who has been your biggest supporter?
Ellie: My biggest supporter has been my family. They support me no matter what especially when it comes to doing things I love. They’re always happy to taste anything I make💗
Question: How have you been coping with quarantine? What stuff do you do to past time?
Ellie: It’s been hard to find ways to cope during quarantine but I have managed. My biggest way of coping is definitely baking but a few other things I do are work out, watch tv, FaceTime friends, online shop and work on engaging my followers.
Question: Do you have any advice for fellow teen bakers? Or others with autoimmune?
Ellie: My advice for fellow teen bakers is to know that things might go wrong but you’ll never become a better baker unless you make those mistakes and remember to keep an eye on the oven! To those with autoimmune I would say keep a positive attitude and not to forget that things will get better💗
Thank you for doing this interview!
Ellie: I had a great time talking to you :)
